WEEKENDERS ...

they're back!  You know it's been fairly quiet in The Highland Lakes area since the end of December.  Summer was over, dove and deer season had ended, and then Winter, and what a winter it was, so there weren't too many "weekenders" around.  Weekenders, those are the folks coming up from the city, Houston, Dallas, Austin, to visit their lakefront properties or ranches and enjoy the beauty and quiet of the area.
It's a good, bad thing ya know!  I've learned you NEVER, EVER go to the grocery store or Wallie-World from Friday afternoon until late Sunday, OMG, they are packed ... now, I'm not totally complaining as it's great for our economy, but you'd think there was a Hurricane on the horizon when Sunday evening rolls around and the weekenders have headed home!  Whew!
And now, this weekend, the wildflowers are absolutely the prettiest I have ever seen, they're everywhere this year thanks to Mother Nature and our rain, and it's the Bluebonnet Festival in Burnet.  So anyway, I'm driving into Marble Falls on my favorite road, Park Road 4 and the weekenders are absolutely crazy!  Remember PR4 is filled with big, rolling hills, it's only 2 lane, and there are no shoulders to speak of.  But that doesn't stop them, over they pull, at a moments notice, jump from their cars with cameras in hand and the picture taking begins; of course, they spy the castle and it's hit the brakes immediately so they won't miss a photo op against the blue, blue sky!
Ahhh, it's fun living in The Highland Lakes, and you know, even with the weekenders at this point in our lives, wouldn't want to live anywhere else!  Until next time ....
